A message from Puppetry Guild of Pittsburgh member,
Felicia Cooper:
It’s been a busy puppet month! I attended the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center this past week to study, train, and collaborate with some of my puppet heroes.
This month, I’ve been working with Pearl Arts Studios as part of their Pearl Diving Movement Residency. It’s been a joy to be in residency with them, and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been exploring! It’s a kid-friendly puppet show using a hand-carved marionette, movement, and object performance. We’ll be telling an allegorical version of Pandora’s myth, with themes of containment and the ambiguity of hope. The performance will be June 30th, with further details soon to come. >In conjunction with this residency, I will be holding a community event at Pearl Arts Studios (201 N Braddock Ave) this Monday, June 19th at 6 pm. Join us to hear a story and make a collaborative crankie that will appear in the show. See image above for the flier, please feel very free to print it and post it wherever you like. Bring a friend! See you there.
